David Černý: David Černý

990 CZK / 1666 CZK
An extensive monograph of the prominent Czech sculptor David Černý, who is one of the most prominent representatives of his generation and whose work can be considered socially engaged in many ways. The publication chronologically presents his work to date, which, in addition to its artistic quality, is also characterized by the fact that it is a unique commentary on social events in the Czech Republic and in the world over the past 25 years.

The text page of the book consists of materials from newspapers, magazines, catalogs and electronic files available in the artist's archive and was organized by the art theorist Tomáš Pospiszyl.
The authors of the graphic design are Petr Bosák, Robert Jansa, Adam Macháček (2017 Designers), multiple winners of the Most Beautiful Czech Book award.

"I hope that I am saying something with my art. But maybe someone in the future will find out that it was all about nothing, or it will somehow be completely different. Who the hell knows?” adds David Černý himself and thereby describes his lifelong tendency to search for an expression of current sculptural work.

David Černý - Fifty Licks

399 CZK / 650 CZK
A book that came out to mark the fiftieth birthday of the most prominent Czech sculptor. No boring monograph, it is rather a vivid look at Černý's themes, obsessions, scandals and accomplishments. It is a rocking fifty licks of a man who certainly doesn't paint everything pink.
The publication, accompanied by a number of previously unpublished photographs and other archival materials, is not just the story of one defiant artist, but also the story of the evolution of Czech society, on which Černý's works provide a running commentary.
