Jan Pjena Novotný

Jan Pjena Novotný, born 17 May 1973, is a sculptor, visual artist and film production designer. Following his exhibitions at the Bubny studio — "Látková výměna" ("Material Exchange") and "Holandský řízek" ("Dutch Schnitzel") — he now presents a special selection of fabric paintings and objects with an industrial theme. The exhibition will be dominated by large-format works assembled from varied velvets and textiles. Almost reliefs or three-dimensional drawings in diverse colour palettes, they explore civilisation following the discovery of oil fields. Large compositions and landscapes transition into oversized close-up details.
